Change an LPG Cylinder
Forklifts are powered by various sources. They could run from gasoline, liquid propane or LP gas, battery or diesel. LP is a clean burning fuel ideal for numerous applications. There are several facilities that have large liquid propane supplies on site. This enables forklifts to be refueled whenever they require. In other places, the facility will have spare LP cylinders which could be changed out when the equipment must be refueled.
In order to prevent potentially serious injury, certain safety measures should be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. For instance: be certain to put on the appropriate safety equipment like heavy gloves, goggles or safety glasses. Turn off the ignition of the forklift before changing out the tank. Then, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is securely closed. Utilize your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Don't forget that it will turn in the opposite direction of a normal connection and never use any kind of wrench or a metal tool on these connections. They are meant to be tightened by hand only.
