Audible Devices - Motion or back-Up Alarms:
The audible devices such as motion alarms or back-up alarms generate sound which needs to be loud enough in order to be heard above the sound which the forklift creates in the operating place.
The sound needs to be readily discernible from other audible devices or noises in the work environment. Sound should be readily discernible from other noise or audible devices within the work area. The audible device could end up contributing to OSHA noise limitation and to employee noise exposure; thus, care should be taken.
Hearing protection makes it really harder to hear the audible device and to determine what direction and distance it is coming from.
