How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when utilizing a scissor lift, because the ease of working and the lift basket's security provides peace of mind while trying to perform tasks which would have otherwise required using the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this machine make it the right alternative for performing tasks from heights.
Most scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries that have been mounted directly onto the equipment. These batteries will have to be charged after a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is an easy job to charge the batteries. This could be carried out without any particular tools or equipment and requires no heavy labor.
In order to prepare the scissor lift for charging, park the machine near an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated place. Then, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button situated inside the lift basket, near the charger or the control box. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Usually, models which are older will have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
Then, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be certain you are charging in an area that is well ventilated and afterward plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. In order to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place when in use, extreme danger could potentially happen.
