Solid Lift Truck Tire Safety
Over 200 deaths each year in North America are caused by forklifts, or lift trucks. Correct maintenance and inspection of lift truck tires could help to lessen the risk of accidents.

Pre-Work Check
Before the start of each shift, the tires on the lift truck must be inspected for indications of wear and damage. The air pressure inside the tires must be checked to make sure that the pressure is not very low. Having a tire pressure which is low could make the machinery prone to tip-overs while lifting loads.

Types of Tires
The tire type of the lift truck will be based upon the type of floor surface which the lift truck would operate on. Solid rubber tires are great for indoor application. For surfaces that are smooth, tires are normally smaller. Bigger pneumatic tires are best for lift trucks for outdoor use. Pneumatic tires are able to grip well on surfaces that are rough since they have rubber tread and are air-filled.

Other factors
Any lift truck used on a continual basis should be checked at the end of every shift, according to Occupational Health and Safety Administration guidelines. The tires must be inspected again for any indication of damage, like cuts or wear.

Forklift Safety
If you or your employees would be using forklifts, proper training in lift truck safety is vital. Forklift accidents could lead to serious personal injuries or death and result in unmanageable financial difficulty. Even minor mishaps can cost your business money if the merchandise or the forklift are damaged during an accident. Be sure you are well informed concerning forklift safety issues.
