Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescopic booms are large industrial machines designed with a straight boom arm that is extendable. The boom is usually located on a rotating turntable. The telescoping boom lifts are typically used for jobs which require tasks to be performed at heights that exceed other kinds of lifts. For instance, employees are able to perform exterior repairs or renovations on medium sized buildings but using these lifts instead of having the additional work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.
The boom lift is only designed to hold one person. These buckets are better suitable to particular jobs such as electrical repair, as opposed to window washing or general maintenance. These lifts come in gas or electric configurations and are offered with both outdoor and indoor tires.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces underneath the work platform. These braces squeeze together in order to push the platform straight up. Since these kinds of machinery must be directly positioned under the work site, these units are way more limited in their use as opposed to boom lifts.
The scissor lift typically has a bigger platform which allows the operator to control the lift to access a bigger work area once the lift platform is raised off the ground. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a problem with these kinds of machines, because they need to sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are great for being used for cladding or window installation, because they provide the personnel with the desired mobility; they are also a good option for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Cherry pickers, boom trucks and bucket trucks each refer to the class a kind of utility vehicle used particularly for vertical work. Generally, these kinds of trucks have a cab. It is here where the operator sits and controls the equipment. There is a bucket for where the employee can stand along with a winch for carrying and an actuator arm for lifting the boom.
Boom trucks take employees to heights that would usually be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to lift heavy supplies or equipment from one location to another. There are a variety of different crane types that can carry out a variety of purposes. Both of these different kinds of equipment excel at different jobs and are great for specific applications and finishing particular tasks.
