Reach Truck
To be able to keep storage areas orderly and to pile up supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck can be used. The reach truck comes in quite a few models: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The simplest type is the stand-up. The truck forks slide underneath the pallet and move it to the correct storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are just one pallet deep.
The double-deep reach truck is similar to the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods. This particular version has telescopic forks designed to place the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when another pallet should go into the same shelving section.
The added advantage of straddle reaches is that they could both slide under the pallet and grasp the sides also. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This model is best in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Often more than one kind of reach truck is required within warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies use different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to utilize and could increase productivity while making the most of available storage space.
